The Suzuki GSX-R1000 claimed another World Endurance championship title at the weekend after finishing on the podium at the coveted Bol d’Or 24-hour race in France.

Running in a special livery for the final round of the championship, as the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team celebrated both its 35th anniversary as well as 30 years of the iconic GSX-R range, the team led the way as night descended over the Paul Ricard circuit.

After an unscheduled pitstop the team slipped down the order, but riders Vincent Philippe, Anthony Delhalle, and Etienne Masson mounted another challenge for the podium in the second half of the race and finished third at the chequered flag, adding to the team’s victory at the prestigious Le Mans 24-hour and its second place at the Oschersleben 8-hour.

The title is the Suzuki GSX-R1000’s ninth World Endurance championship win in the last 11 years.

SERT Team Manager Dominique Meliand said, "They say the younger you are, the more hunger you have for victory, but I can assure you it’s exactly the same at my age. This world championship title tastes just as good as our first one. And for anyone who dismissed the GSX-R1000, this title proves it is still a winning machine. I’m very, very, happy. It has been a very good year for us; and to finish on the podium today and win the Endurance World Championship is great for Suzuki."
