Suzuki has launched a brand new Augmented Reality app for the new V-Strom 1000, the first time the technology has been used by a motorcycle manufacturer.
The app, available on both iPhone and iPad with an Android version set to follow soon, allows users to view Suzuki’s new adventure machine in full 3D and in exquisite detail, all from the screen of their mobile device. The app allows users to select colour options and view the bike with or without accessories, as well as zoom in and around key features to further explore the new V-Strom 1000, which is set to arrive in February next year.
Suzuki is also inviting users to get creative with the app for a chance to win a selection of items from the 2014 Suzuki clothing range. By taking pictures and screenshots of their virtual V-Strom 1000 in the most creative place or with the most unique backdrop, users can submit them to Suzuki to enter the competition. The winner, as judged by three-time British Superbike Champion John Reynolds, will receive a Suzuki ‘Spirited’ hoody, a classically styled Paris-Dakar t-shirt, and a V-Strom 1000 branded t-shirt, watch, mug, key ring, and cap.
Suzuki GB General Manager Paul de Lusignan announced the app at Motorcycle Live, commenting, "We’re very excited to announce the details of our new Augmented Reality app for the V-Strom 1000 and to be the first motorcycle manufacturer to bring this technology to our customers. The app really allows users to explore the V-Strom with ease; from every different angle, from close up and from far away, with or without a selection of Genuine accessories and in all of the available colour options, too. We’re also excited about seeing how creative everyone can get with it and we’re looking forward to seeing the images they share with us on Facebook."
The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple store by searching V-Strom AR, with the target available to download from www.suzuki-gb.co.uk. To enter the competition, submit your image to editor@suzukibulletin.co.uk.
The new V-Strom 1000 is set to be launched next month and is scheduled to arrive in dealer showrooms from February. For more information on the V-Strom 1000, visit www.suzuki-gb.co.uk.
