Team GB athlete and freestyle BMX star Declan Brooks has joined forces with Suzuki, the 21-year-old riding a GSX-S125 alongside his preparations for the 2020 Olympics.
A winner on the world stage – including at last year’s Night Harvest event in South Africa – Brooks is now focussing squarely on the Tokyo 2020 games, with qualification starting from November.
However, coming from a motorcycling family, he has also taken his first steps into riding himself, recently taking his CBT on a GSX-S125. When not training on his BMX, Brooks will be riding his own GSX-S125, building his experience before taking his next test and obtaining his licence.
Declan Brooks, “My family have always owned and raced motorcycles, so doing my CBT and then getting my licence was something I always wanted to do. I rode a little motocross bike at about four or five but I fell off it and at the time I didn’t want to get back on, that was me done! But my dad’s two-wheel mad; he got me into riding BMX, and now I’m getting on a motorbike it’ll please him too. I was a bit nervous, I’d ridden some twist-and-go bits and pieces in the past, but I was a bit worried about going through the gears. I knew what to do in my head, it was just the idea of doing it. But I got the hang of it pretty quickly. I was actually surprised at myself and how quickly I got to grips with it, I guess riding on two wheels every day helped in a way. I’m now really looking forward to riding around on my GSX-S125 and building my experience before doing my full test.”
The GSX-S125 is currently available with £500 off the RRP and is included on Suzuki’s low-rate finance campaign. For more information click here.
